Sharon Oliphant is a dedicated clubwoman who has been active
in GFWC Florida for 30 years. Sharon is a dual member in
the GFWC Seminole Junior Woman’s Club, and the GFWC Pinellas
Seminole Woman’s Club. She has served in many leadership
and chairmanship positions in both clubs. At the State
Level she was the Director of Junior Clubs, 2004-2006. She
also has served as Programs Chairman, Treasurer. First Vice
President and President Elect. Sharon has chosen Operation Smile for her President’s Project for 2018-2020.
Dianne Foerster-President Elect
Dianne joined a GFWC Florida club in 1969 as a member of the GFWC Brandon Junior Woman’s Club. She became the president of that organization and continued on as District 8 Junior District Director. She then continued on the GFWC Florida Junior Board of Directors as a member of the Junior Executive Committee, culminating as GFWC Florida Director of Junior Club.
She is now a member of GFWC Brandon Service League where she has served as club President. In 2016, she was elected as GFWC Florida 2nd Vice President/Membership Chairman. In that position she was very proud to be a part of President Carole Weaver’s plan to develop a weekly GFWC Florida newsletter, aptly called Membership Monday. In the 2016-18 administration, Dianne served as GFWC Florida 1st Vice President In that position, she was in charge of updating the reporting process. She and her committee traveled to the majority of the districts in the state to explain the changes. For this 2018-20 Administration she has been elected as GFWC Florida President Elect and looks forward to another 2 years of “Living the Volunteer Spirit”.
Linda O’Toole-First Vice President
Linda served as GFWC Satellite Beach Woman’s Club President 2010-2012; GFWC District 6 Director, 2012-2014; GFWC Florida Treasurer, 2014-2016, GFWC Florida 2nd Vice President 2016-2018 and now serves as GFWC FL 1st Vice President. Linda joined GFWC Satellite Beach Woman’s Club in 2001 and was asked to be Home Life co-chairman at her first meeting. This developed into additional duties in other CSP chairs, treasurer, and eventuality club president and then District 6 Director. Linda married Ray in 1999 where they lived in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they have 4 adult children and 2 grandchildren. Linda is happy to be Living the Volunteer Spirit each day for GFWC and GFWC Florida. She is delighted to have the sisterhood of this federation which has given her a wonderful family.
Sara Dessureau-Second Vice President
Sara has served the Federation for 24 years in various positions and has been a member of the Board of Directors for 18 years. Over the years as a Federated Women she has been President of the GFWC Cocoa Beach Women’s Club, President of the GFWC Vero Beach Women’s Club and has just finished her third term as President of the GFWC Sebastian Women’s Club. Sara also served as the District Director for District 10. Sara also holds dual membership in GFWC Treasure Coast Women and GFWC Fort Pierce Women’s Clubs. Sara’s last four years on the GFWC Florida Executive Committee have been spent as Finance Officer and Treasurer. Sara’s new position as GFWC Florida Second Vice President allows her to focus on building the membership in our organization. With the help of her membership committee she hopes to increase membership in all clubs over the next two years.
Catrina Sistrunk-Corresponding Secretary
Catrina joined Federation in 1999 as a stay-at-home, to meet more women in the small town of Williston. She was invited repeatedly to ‘Juniors’. Not knowing what this ‘Juniors’ thing was, she decided to give it a try. It wasn’t long before she realized the infinite rewards of volunteerism. Catrina was a member of the GFWC Williston Junior Woman’s Club for 18 years, serving as every officer at least once, Junior District Director twice, and culminated her Junior membership by serving on the Junior Executive Committee for 8 years and as the 2014-2016 GFWC Florida Director of Junior Clubs. After being a dual member with the GFWC Williston Woman’s Club for two years, she recently ‘made the jump’ to full membership in the woman’s club and currently serves as the club’s 1st Vice President.
Catrina was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, graduated from the University of Florida in 1994, has been married 23 years, and has 3 sons ages 19, 17 and 15. She works in the Levy County Tourism Department and is the assistant to the County Grants Coordinator.
Believing in service to her community, Terry joined the GFWC Lake Placid Woman’s Club in 2006. She is a founding member of the GFWC Lake Placid Junior Woman’s Club and joined the Greater Ocala Woman’s Club in 2016. She maintains membership in all three clubs and enjoys attending meetings and functions in both districts. After participating in the LEADS seminar, Terry was inspired to serve in various club chairmanships and offices, including three years as president. She later went on to hold several district positions. On the State level, she has served as Head Quarters Merchandise Chairman, Finance Officer and now serves as Treasurer. Terry has been married to her husband, Gene, for thirty-nine years and they have a grown daughter. Passionate that club work opens doors to deep friendships and personal growth, Terry credits the love and encouragement of her family and federation sisters with being able to take advantage of the opportunities offered through GFWC.
Mary Taylor Jacobs-Finance Officer
Mary is a member GFWC North Pinellas Woman’s Club and has served on the GFWC Florida Board of Directors since 1994, which includes serving on the Executive Committee as Director of Junior Clubs 2000-2002, as Second Vice President 2012-2014, and currently as Finance Officer. She has also served on the GFWC International Board of Directors for 18 years in a variety of chairmanships and committee positions including international outreach chairman, public issues chairman, junior special project chairman, the capital campaign committee, bylaws committee, and resolutions committee. Her favorite GFWC partners are Operation Smile and Canine Companions for Independence. With Operation Smile she has traveled on 18 international missions since 2004, and with Canine Companions for Independence, she has served as a Southeast Region Board Member since 2015 and Chairman of the CCI Tales and Tails Gala in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Cathy Geary-Recording Secretary
Cathy Geary joined GFWC in 1989 as a GFWC Tampa Junior Woman’s Club serving in many positions; Historian, Home Life Chair, Reporting Chair, Conservation Chair, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, First Vice President, and President. During the 1996-1998 Administration, Cathy Geary served as the District 8 Junior Director and then as the Recording Secretary of the Junior Executive Committee from 2000-2002. Cathy served as the Corresponding Secretary during Pat Keel’s Administration from 2006-2008. As a member of the GFWC Tampa Woman’s Club, Cathy served in a number of positions including Liason to the Junior Club, Recording Secretary, First Vice President and President from 2010-2012. In 2014-2016, Cathy served as the State Meetings Chair for Carole Weaver’s administration as well as her Club’s Treasurer. Cathy and her husband Rick have been married 21 years and have two fur babies, Sierra and Buster.
Shannon Bailey-Director of Junior Clubs
Shannon Bailey has been a proud member of Federation and GFWC St Petersburg Junior Woman’s Club since 1997. She has served GFWC Florida at the state level since 2010. She and her husband run Blackwell Auctions, an antiques and fine art auction gallery, and have a college age son. She is passionate about her family, her church, travel, and volunteer work. She has chosen Book Heroes as her Director’s Project for 2018-2020.
Anita Jenkins-Member at Large
Anita is the immediate past president of GFWC Coco Plum Woman’s Club in Miami. She was also President’s Project Chairman for District 11 in 2016-2018. In 2016 Anita was the LEADS winner and represented Florida at the International Convention. She is very proud of that award. When asked to attend a club meeting, she jumped in and became very involved, which she still is. She is very honored to be Member at Large for GFWC Florida Federation.
Jackie Pierce, Registered Parliamentarian, is currently serving as the GFWC Florida Parliamentarian and as the First Vice President of the NAP Florida State Association of Parliamentarians. Jackie served as the 1992-94 GFWC Illinois President and the first GFWC Leadership Chairman in 1994-96 under GFWC International President Jeannine Faubian (prior to this leadership was an area of interest under “Education.”) She continued her GFWC service as GFWC Treasurer, Secretary, Second Vice President, First Vice President, President Elect and as the 2006-2008 GFWC International President. Since her “retirement” she has served as the 2014-2016 GFWC Great Lakes Parliamentarian; GFWC Illinois Parliamentarian for ten years and as the GFWC Naples Woman’s Club Parliamentarian for twelve years.
